His Excellency Khaled Al Ghaith Speaks at the Conference on the Role of Religious Leaders in Spreading Tolerance and Peace

HCHF Secretary-General, H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Ghaith, participated as a keynote speaker at the prestigious “Conference on the Role of Religious Leaders in Spreading Tolerance and Peace,” held at the Royal Alcazar of Seville on July 2, 2024, organized by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Foundation for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance,

The conference brought together eminent leaders from around the globe to discuss and promote the crucial role of religious figures in fostering a culture of tolerance and peace. The event was inaugurated with a welcome address by H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.

In his speech, His Excellency emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among different faiths to build a harmonious and peaceful world. He highlighted the efforts of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity in bridging gaps between diverse communities and promoting mutual respect and understanding.

The conference featured a series of sessions with distinguished speakers, including:

  • H.E. Ana Mestre García, First Vice-President of the Parliament of Andalusia.
  • H.E. Afra Al Sabri, Director General of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates.
  • H.E. Franziska Honsowitz-Friessnigg, Director of the Department of Scientific Cooperation and Dialogue between Cultures & Religions of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • H.E. María Jesús Bonilla Domínguez, First Vice President of the Interior Commission of the Senate of Spain.
  • H.E. Dr. Osama Hashem Elsayed Elsherbiny Elhadidy, Director General of the Al Azhar World Center for Electronic Fatwa.
  • H.E. Mons. Bernardito Cleopas Auza, Apostolic Nuncio in Spain.
  • H.E. Manuel Palma Ramírez, President-Dean of the Faculty of Theology San Isidoro of Seville.
  • H.E Ángel García Rodríguez, President and Founder of the UN Mensajeros de la Paz.
  • H.E. Rev. Dr. Joseph Illul, Member of the Constituent Assembly of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
  • H.E. Dianna Yessenova, Director of the Center for Interreligious Development and Dialogue among Civilizations.
  • H.E. Saif El Islam Benabdennour, President of the Abraham Forum.
  • Dr. Muhammad Al-Sammak, Secretary General of the National Committee for Muslim-Christian Dialogue in Lebanon.
  • H.E. Ibrahim Hernández, President of the Islamic Cultural Center-Seville Mosque Foundation.

The event culminated with closing remarks from H.E. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Aljarwan, marking the successful conclusion of a day filled with profound discussions and collaborative efforts towards a more tolerant and peaceful world.

On the sidelines, H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Ghaith met with Mr. Joel Soler from the “MAGOS” Foundation to discuss mutual cooperation and participation in upcoming initiatives. He also met with Ms. Diana Yessenova, Acting Head of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center, to explore future cooperation opportunities, where she introduced the “Religious Leaders for a Just and Secure Society” program. 

Additionally, he had a meeting with Father Dr. Joseph Loll, a professor at the University of Malta, a member of the Papal Chair, and a founding member of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
