BAKU, AZERBAIJAN – Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF) Secretary-General Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam discussed collaboration in the field of education with leadership of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology on Saturday.
In a meeting held at the institute, Rector Agil Shirinov and Vice-Rector Mohamed Al-Amin discussed aspects of cooperation with Judge Abdelsalam, including incorporating the Document on Human Fraternity into the institute’s curriculum and holding joint events to foster the values of coexistence and peace.
A historic statement urging peace and reconciliation among all people, the Document on Human Fraternity was co-signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb in 2019 in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
Judge Abdelsalam presented the institute with an original copy of the Document, to be made accessible to researchers and students.
“It is of utmost importance that the principles of the Document on Human Fraternity be integrated into educational programs around the world in order to instill moral and ethical values in the next generation of leaders,” said Judge Abdelsalam, adding that the HCHF has already began partnering with international educational institutions, including schools associated with Al-Azhar and the Vatican.
Judge Abdelsalam commended the efforts of the institute to advance religious education and research, and contribute to the national development of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, established in 2018 by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, aims to ensure the needs of Azerbaijani people in the field of religious education based on international standards and educate religious figures who tolerate all confessions and doctrines with profound knowledge about Islam and other world religions.
